OES has expanded its operations in the UK with the acquisition of the Interactive Design Institute (IDI).

IDI delivers both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in design and business to students in more than 80 countries for its two partners, the University of Hertfordshire and the University of Aberdeen. Providing end-to-end services from recruitment to learning design, IDI shares OES’s vision of an academic led, student-centric approach to online learning.

OES UK Managing Director Andrea Burrows said: “The acquisition represents an exciting new chapter for both companies. With our shared vision and breadth of capability in areas ranging from learning design to student support, we can deliver an unparalleled service to universities looking to transform their online offering.

“The strength of our combined experience and expertise mean we can provide fast entry to new markets, reaching new cohorts of students both at home and overseas.”

OES opened its office in London, UK, in April 2018. This was followed by the signing of a third university partner in Australia, where it provides more than 50 higher education programmes, from micro credentials to masters, to over 10,000 students. OES and IDI will now leverage the experience gained from the UK and Australian markets to help partners meet the growing demand from prospective international students for high-quality online education.

IDI Managing Director Arlene Stewart said: “Joining OES allows us to build on our success, delivering outstanding outcomes for students through the provision of innovative and engaging online learning.

“Widening participation is a fundamental aim for the higher education sector. With our in-depth knowledge of the type of student attracted to online study and what they need to succeed, we can help universities increase accessibility and meet demand from the international market.”

IDI has become a wholly owned subsidiary of OES and continues to operate under its own brand from its offices outside of Edinburgh.
