Chair of the OES Board recognised in 2025 King’s Birthday Honours

Wendy Thorpe awarded Medal of the Order of Australia in King’s Birthday Honours

 

 

OES congratulates Chair of the OES Board Wendy Thorpe on receiving the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours for her outstanding service to the financial services sector.

 

The OES team is very proud to congratulate the Chair of the OES board, Wendy Thorpe, on being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2025 King’s Birthday Honours.

We are thrilled to see our Chair recognised for her incredible work through this honour and to acknowledge the positive impact that Ms Thorpe has made throughout her career thus far.

With more than 30 years’ experience in executive and board roles, Ms Thorpe brings deep expertise, governance acumen and a strong commitment to impact in every organisation she serves.

Ms Thorpe was recognised for her significant service to the financial services sector and her leadership across some of Australia’s largest organisations including AXA, AMP, and ANZ, in addition to OES.

An experienced company director and executive, Ms Thorpe is currently Chair of Epworth Healthcare and a Director of IAG, People First Bank, auDA and Data Action. Her previous board roles have included appointments as a Director of Ausgrid, Tower and AMP Bank, and she was a member of Council at Swinburne University of Technology.

Throughout her career, Ms Thorpe has been a strong advocate for innovation, governance excellence and customer outcomes. Her leadership continues to have a lasting impact across the organisations she supports, including OES where her direction and guidance continues to inspire and motivate the team’s successes.

The 2025 Honours recognised 830 Australians for their outstanding service and contributions to the community. The list, release on Sunday 8 June 2025 by Governor-General Sam Mostyn AC included 202 female leaders amongst the 581 honourees who will attend investiture ceremonies at the Government House in their respective state or territory in the coming months to receive the insignia of their award.

The Governor General expressed a heartfelt congratulations to the new OAM recipients, including Ms Thorpe:

“Every day, and all across the country, Australians are doing extraordinary things with passion, generosity, energy, and resolve.

To all who are being recognised in The King’s Birthday 2025 Honours List, I want to offer my congratulations and gratitude for all that you have given to Australia – and I look forward to meeting many of you at the investiture of your awards.”
